Planting For The 2016 Season Is Almost Complete

It's been a number of weeks since I've had time to sit down and write any kind of blog update. Getting the fields and everything ready for this years growing season has been a bit frustrating. The rains we have had in April, although badly needed and always welcome, have slowed down field preparation this year. Funny thing about tractors, they don't like trying to plow mud. Other projects around the farm have also been slowed down due to weather conditions also. This and other issues like putting in this seasons irrigation system have made the last several weeks really busy.

All that said and thank the good Lord, I figure we are only a couple of weeks behind schedule. We should be finished with all the planting either today or tomorrow. We have put in about 25% more crops this year and are trusting the Lord for a bountiful harvest. It all boils down to the fact that the greater the harvest, the greater our ability to help put food on the tables of those in need in our community.

Once planting is complete, I will post a few photos. They won't show much since some crops we grow from seed and of course haven't germinated when I take these photos. Other crops are planted from seedlings but the photos will give the reader an idea of what we are doing this season. I'll also be posting additional photos ever couple of weeks as the crops mature. Be sure to check back in a few days to view these photos.
