So many great things happened in 2015 and we were able to
assist so many individuals and families that when I look back on the year, I
can’t help but be a little bite amazed and somewhat overwhelmed at how the Lord
has worked. 2016 is going to be an even more amazing year as we see how the
Lord works and as we are adding a number of new programs, events and activities
here at Squash Patch Farms Ministry. I use the word “amazed as Squash Patch
Farms Ministry is a small ministry. Unlike the big organizations that get tons
of visibility, we pretty much rely on Work-of-Mouth when it comes to our
visibility. Since most of our referrals come from local churches, other
organizations and folks we have already assisted it’s amazing to me that we
almost doubled the number of individuals and families we were able to assist in
2015.
This points out the reality that even though the official government
figures say our economy is getting better, it really isn’t. The worrisome thing
is I don’t see it getting better in the near future either. Everything keeps
going up except family incomes and those who run their own small businesses
it’s getting more difficult to operate.
Some things taking place are more of an expansion of existing
programs such as our Farm Share Program and our Widow’s & Widower’s
Adoption Program. Some areas of expected growth are simply do to the overall
growth of the ministry itself and demand. Our Food Box Program for example. A
couple of new programs we’re still refining and working out some minor details
on so I’m not bringing them up just at this time. Well announce them once all
the final details are sorted out.
2016 will see more Educational Classes in the area of
Agriculture (farm & garden & self sufficiency in the area of personal
food production and other related areas). We also have plans for other
activities such as an Open House & BBQ dinner here at the farm this summer.
There are other activities planned also that we will be letting our readers know
about in plenty of time.
We are in the process of starting a monthly newsletter. I’m
still working on the mechanics of distribution but for know if any reader would
like to receive it, just drop us an email at
squashpatchfarms@gmail.com
with the word “Newsletter” in the Subject line and we will get you on the
mailing list. This may actually not start until February.
If any of our readers in the Chino
Valley , Paulden, Prescott
or Prescott Valley area would like to become
involved we can use all the help we can get. Just drop us
