Thursday night we received our first really heavy snow. When
I looked out the window Friday morning, all the fields were covered in a
blanket of white. Not a scare or mark on it. Perfectly clean. That is until I let
our dog out and within minutes, she had foot prints all over the place.
I thought to myself that the blanket of pristine snow was
something like a new born baby. Perfect and unmarked. The child hadn’t been
scared up yet by life. Our world hadn’t had a chance to inflict its wounds upon
it yet. That perfect blanket of snow also reminded me that God’s original plan
for us humans was for us to always be perfectly clean in His sight.
Exactly how long that lasted we will never know until we are
in heaven. Then we can ask, if we are still interested. The Bible doesn’t give
us any details of how long Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden before they
fell from grace. It could have only been days, weeks or months. It could just
as well have been decades or centuries since “Physical Death” for them wasn’t
in God’s original plan.
Adam and Eve were created perfect without blot or blemish.
They and we also would be that way today had not the adversary shown up on the
scene and they had followed God’s Plan A for mankind. The reader can read about
it in Genesis 2 & 3. Even know, God has a Plan A for everyone but
unfortunately, so many have chosen not to accept it and implemented their own
Plan B which brings separation from God and eventually not only physical death
but spiritual death.
The Good News is that even though one may be currently
operating under Plan B, there is still hope for them. With the birth of Jesus,
God the Father gave mankind another chance to accept His Plan A. Yes we all
will experience a physical death (unless the Lord returns before that time) but
we do not have that spiritual death hanging over our heads any more. That is as
long as you have accepted the Lord into your life.
Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you confess with your
mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the
dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and
with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” ESV
That is really all there is to it. No strings, No rituals. Just the
amount of faith the size of a mustard seed and a contrite heart.
