2015 is your chance to grow fresh, healthy, and delicious produce with your own two hands and also help feed the hungry in our community at the same time.
Squash Patch Farm Ministry in cooperation with many local
churches and other organizations are in the process of establishing a new
method of helping to feed the hungry here in the Chino Valley, AZ area. Our
approach is not the Re-creation of the Wheel. What we are doing is a two fold
approach to an age old problem. The first part of the program is the
development of a Community
Garden in which local residents
may participate.
In conjunction with this part of the program we will be
encouraging any resident in the community who either currently has a garden or
plans to have on this year to donate their excess production to the Community Garden program. The combines produce
grown will be distributed to those in our community who are in need of food
assistance. Those involved in the program will also have access to additional
training we will be offering.
On Monday, January 12th we will be holding an
Informational Meeting at 7:00 PM in the Nazarene
Church located next to the Overflow
Coffee Shop at Highway 89 & Road 1 North in Chino
Valley , AZ (that’s the corner
where the Chino Valley Medical
Center is located).
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to come.
If you think that it is far too early to start planning this summer's garden, it isn't. We will be glad to give you hand with you planning. We will also have some free software for you to use to plan, organize and track your gardening efforts.
Those wishing to participate in the program can obtain a "Garden Registration Form" by dropping us an email or click the following link. We will email you a Registration Form you can email back to us.
You can also register your garden at the meeting Monday evening.
