Ministry Updates

Director’s Input

For some ministry’s, success is measured by the numbers. We who are privileged to serve our Lord through Squash Patch Farms Ministries and our various Community Outreach Programs measure our effectiveness in a much different manner. Each individual and family we assist is so unique and individual in so many ways and with such a wide variety of needs they are dealing with, we determine how effective we are for our Lord by the positive impact we are able to accomplish in seeing their lives become better. Combine with this is the reality that when an individual or family comes to us seeking one type of assistance, it doesn’t take very long as we talk with them, that there are others issues in their lives that we can probably be able to address through one or more of the other outreach programs we have available.

To us, the bottom line is seeing those that already have a relationship with our Lord strengthen that relationship and for those that have never been introduced to Jesus the opportunity for us to introduce them to the life changing effects Jesus will make in their lives. The fact that no one can deal with and address the issues and problems we all have in our lives better than our Lord.

Don’t forget that in November Word of Life Assembly of God will for the 17th year be holding our Thanksgiving at Our House – it’s a free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone in the community. This year it’s being held on November 26th and we start serving at 4 PM.

Food Connect Program

Some of our readers have probably already heard about the new element we have added to the Food Connect Program. It’s called the Community Neighbors Helping Neighbors Project. The Project basically provides anyone who wishes to become involved in helping see that no man, woman or child goes to bed hungry in our community the opportunity to actually get involved with very little effort or time involved. For those interested in the Project, a more complete and detailed explanation can be found on our website ( http://tiny.cc/SPFM ) by going to the Food Connect Program page. Those interested in participating in the Project can also call us at 928-215-0863 or drop us an email at squashpatchfarms@gmail.com .

With the holidays just around the corner, we anticipate, as usual, in seeing an increase in those seeking assistance through the Food Connect Program. Although the holiday’s are generally considered the “Giving Season”, for us this concept takes on an increased importance because we never really know how many individuals and family’s we will see every year. We don’t mind telling the reader that although we need your donations all year long, we especially need them during the holidays. Donations can be dropped of at our location (590 W. Rd. 1 N. in Chino Valley) Monday’s thru Thursday’s between 8 AM and 4 PM each day.

Some readers may not be aware that one of the things that makes the Food Connect Program unique in our community is that we are able to accommodate many of those who have medical dietary restrictions. In an emergency or crisis situation, we are also capable of getting food into the hands of those in need 24/7 – 365.

SPFM Chaplaincy

Our Chaplaincy is probably one of the lesser known programs that operate out of Squash Patch Farms Ministries. The Chaplaincy is a ministry of presence. Dedicated to providing compassionate support to the ill and informed, their families, caregivers and others in crisis situation or those experiencing hard times in their lives regardless of their denominational background. We simply say, “When the need arises, We are here to help!. Additional information about the Chaplaincy can also be found at our website or by giving us a call.

SPFM Employment Assistance Program

Few folks like being unemployed. Unemployment teaks havoc not only on the individual who is unemployed but also their family. We’re very happy to say that we have been able to assist quite a few individuals each month in finding new employment. Should you find yourself or someone you know currently unemployed and are having difficulty finding that new job, we may be able to help. The Employment Assistance Program’s motto is “Connecting Good Employees with Good Employers so both benefit from the connection”.

Matthew Connection

When somebody need help, often the biggest challenge is finding out who actually can provide the help needed. The Matthew Connection is designed to connect those who are in need of one kind of assistance or another with those who can provide the assistance needed. We actually stopped recording the number of inquiries we receive each month because the process was tiring up too much time. There isn’t a day that goes by – 7 days a week – that we don’t receive a number of calls that we are privileged to assist.

This Months Devotional

LITTLE THINGS

Scripture For Today: James 1:13-15 And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

There was this aircraft mechanic who was completing his final inspection before a plane’s departure. Having made major repairs, he was satisfied that everything was ready. Then he noticed a small drip of water coming from the lavatory. It did not seem serious since it was so small, so he cleared the plane for take-off.

As the plane climbed to its flying altitude, the drip became a little larger. The water began to freeze, and a large piece of ice was formed. Finally, it broke loose, hit an engine and destroyed it. The plane was then forced to make an emergency landing. Although no one was injured, it caused serious and unnecessary damage, and there was a great loss of time. The repair to the plane cost much more than it would have cost if it had been taken care of when it was first noticed.

If you haven’t noticed, it’s the same way with sin. It usually begins with a small, stray thought or an unhealthy desire. We allow a vision or idea to grow, expand and develop, and it eventually overwhelms us, and the temptation leads to sin.

God’s Word contains an important promise: “With every temptation, He will provide a way out.” James 1:13-15 How marvelous are His power and protection! No matter how difficult the choice may be – if we ask and look for and search thoroughly, we will find His “escape route.”

When tempted, we must turn to Him and claim victory in His Name.
