If you have a relationship with our Lord, you have probably
notices that your walk with Him can sometimes be a little confusing. He will
lead you to do some type of ministry work for Him and once you say “yes”, you
are already to jump in with both feet and get going. This is normal but what is
also quite normal is that things don’t go the way you think they should.
Your plans aren’t always in sync with God’s plans.
Things aren’t moving as fast as you think they should be going. Some
things you have planned don’t seem to be falling together the way you
think they should. You begin to wonder if you heard God
correctly. Anyone who has been involved in almost any ministry probably has at
one time or another had similar thoughts.
You noticed I underlined the word “you”. If you are
walking with Christ, we humans have to keep reminding your selves that it is
Christ who is the Leader and we are the follower. This can be an even more
important point if you happen to be an “A” personality like I am. Not only do
you have to resist the tendency of being a control freak but you are prone to
rush right in, full steam ahead.
One thing the wife and I learned quickly and early when we
started our ministry work was that “Our Timing”, generally isn’t “God’s
Timing”. When I teach on this subject I like to use the analogy of a traffic
stop light. A traffic light has 3 colors to it: Red, Yellow & Green. Our
ministry walk with the Lord is somewhat like a traffic light. We all know what
the colors mean.
Some times the Lord gives us the “Red Light” – STOP – He
wants us to do nothing at that particular time. On the other side is the “Green Light” – GO – FULL SPEED
AHEAD – He is telling us that it is time to move.
A portion of our ministry walk is in the “Yellow Light” area
where He is saying that things aren’t quite ready yet. During these times, I’ve
found that it is usually that the Lord is working on pulling together other
people and events He needs to have in place for the work to go forward. Some
times He’s working on the lives and hearts of those who He also wants involved
in His work. Some times there are things in our own lives and hearts that need
an adjustment.
The thing that we all have to remember is that it is the
Lord who is controlling it all. He not only knows the past and the present but
also the future. His plans for us were established from the beginning. He also
has complete control of the project He has planned and being who He is, the
plan is a perfect one. Having all the power in the universe, He is also more
than capable of doing what He has planned and put into motion. “For I
am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will
perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6
The Lesson: Relax, Don’t Stress Out, - It’s All Going To
Work Out The Way The Lord Wants. One final thought. A lot of time the best
thing we can do is just relax and enjoy the ride. Pray always and put your
Faith in Him.
