The ministry of helping families in need with putting food
on their tables often a mixed bag of emotional experiences. Although so many
folks are reluctant to elaborate on problems they may be having, it’s often
easy to see that Food isn’t the only thing on the minds of some who we help. We
always ask them if there is any other way in which we might be able to help
them. Some times, this opens the door for them to share were else we might be
able to be of assistance but just as often their response is a simple “that’s
all we need”. Even though it’s clearly not the case.
It’s only natural for families to be private about what is
going on within their family. We all have had experiences where something told
in confidence has come back to haunt us. I just wish folks would understand
that we are not inquiring to be nosey, we really want to be able help them in
any way we can. We are simply doing what the Lord has instructed us to do and
anything they tell us goes no further.
One of the most devastating, humiliating and painful
experiences any parent can face is not being able to place a plate of food in
front of their children at dinner time. I know just thinking about it just
crushes me. I pray you never have to deal with that issue.
One of the most gratifying rewards in doing what we do is
seeing folks come to us with a look of hopelessness on their faces and seeing
that expression turn to relief when they find out that there are people out
here that really care and are willing to help them.
We can’t help everyone directly but we do have the ability
to probably be able to point folks with problems and issues towards those who
can assist them. As my dad used to say, “for every problem there is a solution”.
Of course he also used the old saying “you can lead a horse to water but you
can’t make him drink”. We can’t help folks if they won’t let us. If you are in
the Chino Valley
or Paulden area here in Arizona
and you know of someone or family who we might help, please encourage them to
contact us.
What we do is collaborative effort of all those
who help support what we do. We may be on the front line, so to speak, but if
the Lord wasn’t working through and with those who support us, we would never
be able to do it alone.
